The Engineering Process at TWI

The engineering process is the set of steps engineers follow to solve a problem. This involves identifying the goal, determining constraints and creating, building and testing. This is an important part of every project at TWI and assists us in ensuring that our projects meet high performance and safety standards. This is particularly crucial for New York City projects as they have to meet stringent requirements.

In this stage, students investigate the problem they’re facing in order to determine what the issue is and gather data. This is an open-ended and student-centered approach to science that reorients classes away from traditional teaching.

At this moment, students brainstorm ideas on how they can solve the issue. This can be done by using whiteboards, software or discussions. Some ideas may not work, but that’s ok because it allows them to experiment with others to find the best solution.

After analysing and brainstorming the results The team then chooses a solution to design and construct. This can be printed on paper, using CAD software, or even through the creation more info here of a prototype that is physical or virtual. This is a great option for students, since they can build tangible prototypes that let them test their ideas.
